Economy of our area:
Agriculture: Crops grown in the Hatch Valley include the world famous "Hatch Red and Green Chile", onions, alfalfa, lettuce, cabbage, cotton, pecans and wheat. Several large dairies are located just to the west of the Village. Onion, chile and pecan processing plants dot the countryside.

Manufacturing: Local businesses include metal fabrication and machining, specializing in the manufacture of processing plant equipment.

Tourism: Located just 18 miles to the North of Hatch, the Caballo and Elephant Butte dams contain reservoirs of over 20,000 surface acres of Rio Grande water. State Parks, fishing, boating and other water sports are available at these popular locations. To the East, within in two hours driving time are located the Cloudcroft and Ruidoso Ski Areas, White Sands National Monument and the International Space Hall of Fame. Two hours to the Northwest is the location of the Gila National Wilderness, several Ghost towns, the Gila Cliff Dwellings and Lake Roberts. Elk, deer, turkey, oryx and quail hunting are within a short drive of Hatch.
